As many as two dozen cars had their windows shot out early Sunday in Weld County.The vandalism occurred in Gilcrest, Greeley and LaSalle, police said. Police said it appears the vandals used pellet guns. In Greeley, some of the cars were damaged by paintball guns. In LaSalle, the vandals used BB guns.None of the vehicles were moving at the time of the shooting, and none were broken into.Police said the vandalism happened between 1 and 1:40 a.m. Sunday. As many as 24 cars were damaged.The police agencies are working together to determine if the vandalism is related. In December, vandals randomly targeted vehicles in Denver, Lakewood, Westminster and Arapahoe County.In Arapahoe County, at least 15 vehicles had their windows shot out with a BB gun or similar weapon the weekend of Dec. 19-20. The cars that were hit were parked in Centennial or unincorporated Arapahoe County. Damage was estimated at $13,000 to $15,000.That same weekend, Denver police reported that at least nine cars near South Colorado Boulevard between East Louisiana Avenue and East Florida Avenue were shot at while they were moving on Dec. 18. Ten more vehicles were shot at on Dec. 20 in Denver, but those cars reportedly were parked. Police were looking for a stolen 1995 Honda Accord with license plate 638-TMC in connection to that incident.Police in Weld County said they have a possible lead on a vehicle that may have been involved in Sunday's vandalism, but they did not provide details. Officials said they had to perform some video enhancement before they could release that information.
