Woman's body found in field in rural part of eastern Pueblo County

UPDATE | Tuesday, 12:10 p.m. — The Pueblo County Coroner's Office identified the woman found deceased in field as 46-year-old Darlene Reason. An autopsy didn't find any obvious signs of trauma and toxicology reports are still pending. Deputies said she was likely in the field only a few hours before she was found. She was homeless at the time and living in Pueblo.

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. — The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a woman's body was found in a field in a rural part of the county Sunday morning.

The sheriff's office said deputies responded to the 54000 block of U.S. Highway 50 East, in the eastern part of the county, around 8 a.m. Sunday after a property owner reported finding a body in a field.

When deputies arrived, they confirmed the woman had died. They did not see any obvious signs of trauma, the sheriff's office said. She appeared to be in her 40s.

Deputies said they believe the woman was a Pueblo resident, but have not been able to identify next-of-kin.

The Pueblo County Coroner's Office will perform an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of death. As of Sunday morning, the case is being investigated as a suspicious death.

The woman is described as standing about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing about 120 pounds, with red hair and hazel eyes.
