Woman dies after stabbing outside Chili's in Thornton

THORNTON, Colo. — A woman died and a man was transported to a hospital after a stabbing outside a Chili's Grill & Bar in Thornton on July 30.

According to the Thornton Police Department, the stabbing occurred around 4:15 p.m. outside the restaurant, which is located at 16507 Washington St. One man was taken into custody in connection to the double stabbing.

On July 31, police said they had determined that a 35-year-old man had stabbed his mother and grandfather. The grandfather was hospitalized and remained in critical condition as of Friday.

The mother was identified by the coroner's office as 58-year-old Lisa Kay Ward of Frederick.

The suspect's name has not been released.
