Wintry weather, Mueller probe and more: 5 Things to Know for Monday, Oct. 30

DENVER – Good morning! Here’s what you need to know today, Monday, Oct. 30.

1. First Alert Action Day
Monday is First Alert Action Day! The storm is expected to produce light snow, creating slick road conditions during the morning commute hours in the Denver area. Temperatures will also be a concern. Our highs will only be in the 30s for the day. 

2. Manafort turning himself in
Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort is expected to turn himself in today following the first charges in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

3. 16th Street smoking ban
The Denver City Council will vote on an ordinance that will ban smoking on the 16th Street Mall. The vote will occur during Monday evening’s meeting.

4. I-225 extra lane
Construction will begin on expanding southbound I-255 at I-25. Crews will turn the shoulder into an extra lane. Construction will last up to a month. 

5. New briefs in Masterpiece Cakeshop case
A number of briefs are expected to be filed today in the U.S. Supreme Court case involving Lakewood's Masterpiece Cakeshop's refusal to bake a cake for a same-sex wedding.
