WINTER PARK, Colo. — This month's wintery weather brought more than 40 inches of snow to Winter Park Resort, prompting it to open earlier than ever before.

The resort will open for the season on Saturday. It’s the earliest opening on record.

The first chair will run from the Arrow Lift at 8:30 a.m.

If you’re planning on coming out for opening day, you’ll also be able to access Parkside favorites Parkway, Lower Village Way and Sorenson Park. You can also stop by the Derailer Bar for $1 Coors Light specials.

“Mother Nature brought the snow to Winter Park especially early this year, so we are taking advantage of the conditions and are excited to open the mountain more than a week earlier than expected,” said Marketing Director Liz Agostin. “We invite skiers and riders to head up and start their ski season with us on Nov. 2.”

This weekend also marks the start of Winter Park’s 80th year in business. On Nov. 16, the resort will offer two lift tickets for $80 to celebrate. This offer is valid for one day only.
