WESTMINSTER, Colo. — A 16-year-old driver was arrested after police say he crashed into a Westminster bus stop, killing a woman and seriously injuring a man last week.

The crash occurred early Thursday morning in the 7000 block of Sheridan Boulevard, a Westminster police statement released Tuesday read.

The 16-year-old male driver stayed on scene, police said. He was arrested and released pending charges.

Police said distracted driving is thought to be the main cause of the accident. They do not suspect drugs or alcohol played a role.

The Adams County Coroner’s office will release the identity of the deceased victim.

Police said it would take several months for this investigation to be completed and a determination of charges.
