ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. – In the wake of a very rough week at Legacy High School, another nearby school reached out Thursday with a sweet gesture.
The Westminster High School football team’s captains brought several cakes to Legacy’s football team dinner Thursday – the latest in an outpouring support after several coaches and players were injured in a bus crash Sunday that killed the driver.
Thousands of dollars in donations have poured in for the family of the driver, Kari Chopper, and for the coaches injured in the crash.
The cakes were decorated with the phrases “Football=Family” and “Legacy Strong,” a phrase that’s been turned into a hashtag and mantra for the community after the crash.
Adams 12 principals also showed their support at their monthly meeting Thursday, and donations continue to be collected ahead of Legacy’s homecoming game Friday night.
