WATCH: In trailer for ‘BlacKkKlansman,' Spike Lee tells true story of KKK in Colorado

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Focus Features has released the first trailer for Spike Lee’s upcoming film, “BlacKkKlansman,” which is based on a true story of the Ku Klux Klan in Colorado.

The film is based on the story of Ron Stallworth, a black police officer in Colorado Springs who went undercover in the 1970s to infiltrate the KKK.

“BlacKkKlansman” features John David Washington as Ron Stallworth, Adam Driver as his partner, Flip Zimmerman and Topher Grace as David Duke.

“Get Out” writer/director Jordan Peele is among the producers on the film.

The movie opens in theaters on Aug. 10.
