DENVER — People who use Uber to get around Denver will now see information on public transit when they launch the app on their smartphone.
Uber and the Regional Transportation District announced Thursday that they’re partnering to include RTD transit route info within the Uber app.
Transit route and pricing info will show up alongside Uber’s own transportation offerings once a user enters a destination in the Uber app.
RTD CEO and General Manager Dave Genova said the integration will help users of both services get around easier by filling in gaps in the transit network.
“Our customers want their trips to be as seamless as possible, and a collaboration like this one allows them to plan for travel from end to end, including additional first mile and last mile options,” Genova said. “RTD is pleased to work with Uber as we present riders with additional, complementary options to most efficiently reach their destination.”
Denver is the first city to incorporate transit data into the Uber app.
Plans are in the works to expand the functionality with the ability to purchase and use RTD tickets from within the Uber app as well. RTD and Uber have not yet announced when that functionality will be available.
