AURORA, Colo. — A spokesperson with the Aurora Police Department said three people were injured after a shooting in Aurora Monday morning.

APD Officer Matthew Longshore said officers responded to a shooting around 10:50 a.m. Monday near E. 2nd Avenue and Potomac Street, a few blocks east of the Aurora Hills Golf Course. At the scene, they found two people with gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a hospital — one in "very serious" and "serious" condition, Longshore said. Multiple weapons were recovered at the scene.

While officers were in the area, they received a description of the possible shooters. An officer down the street located two people who matched the suspect descriptions, Longshore said. He said they were also transported to the hospital because one had a minor gunshot wound and the other appeared to be having a medical episode.

Longshore said police are now trying to understand how the four knew each other. He said three of them are 19-year-old black males, but didn't have a description of the fourth person.

Longshore said it's unclear how each person is related to the shooting and who shot whom. Police are interviewing witnesses and searching for surveillance footage, he said.

He said police believe the shooting happened in a parking lot in the area. They do not yet know if alcohol or drugs were involved.

As of 12:30 p.m., there have been no arrests, Longshore said.
