The Colorado Avalanche Information Center announced the third avalanche fatality this year in Colorado.

On Tuesday, an avalanche was triggered on the east side of Wolf Creek Pass and trapped one snowmobiler, according to a Facebook post from the Crested Butte Avalanche Center.

Crews reported that a lack of avalanche equipment and the nature of the terrain, prevented a speedy recovery of the victim.

There is no information on the identity of the victim at this time.
