AURORA, Colo. – Ahead of a busy holiday travel season, the Transportation Security Administration at the Denver airport is looking to hire more than 80 new employees.

Organizers of this one-day, fast-track event are looking to recruit part- and full-time transportation security officers (TSOs) to work at DIA.

The information sessions are scheduled for Saturday at 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. at the TSA Offices at 3855 Lewiston St. in Aurora. Parking at the office is free.

Each session, which includes the preliminary hiring process, can take between three and five hours, so TSA officials recommend arriving early.

The officials will discuss the responsibilities of a TSO and how the application process works. They will also provide an overview of working for the federal government and discuss benefits. After this session, those who are still interested in the positions will take a computer-based aptitude test and sit down for an interview. At the end, they will leave with a medical kit for drug screening. A mandatory medical exam will be scheduled for a later date as well.

Starting pay for these positions is $18.70 per hour, with opportunities for a pay increase after six months.

Applicants can apply on-site, but can also apply early on TSA’s website here.

All candidates must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent security experience, and be a U.S. citizen or national. Applicants are required to have two valid forms of state or federal identification.
