Missing 82-year-old Thornton woman with dementia found safe

THORNTON, Colo. – Police are asking for the public’s help finding an elderly woman with dementia who went missing in Thornton on Wednesday.

A caretaker called 911 to report Ruby Tanaka, 82, as missing at about 7:20 p.m. The caretaker told officers Tanaka walked out the front door of the home, located in the 3100 block of East 132nd Court, and had been gone for 10 to 20 minutes.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate Tanaka.

The caretaker told police that Tanaka has dementia and doesn’t know her own name. She doesn’t have any other medical issues, according to police.

Other law enforcement agencies and RTD have all been notified of Tanaka’s disappearance.

Tanaka is 4 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 85 pounds with brown eyes and brown and gray hair. She was last seen wearing a red fleece jacket, blue jeans and slippers.

Anyone with information on Tanaka’s whereabouts should call 911.
