These Colorado athletes have won medals at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang

DENVER - The Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea are well underway and Colorado athletes have already earned several medals.

Out of 244 athletes on Team USA, 31 are from Colorado, the most of any state.

Team USA's first gold medal went to 17-year-old Red Gerard of Silverthorne, who came in first in the men's slopestyle event.

Here's a rundown of which Colorado athletes have made it to the medal podium so far:

  • Mikaela Shiffrin, 22, Eagle-Vail, women's giant slalom
  • Nicole Hensley, 23, Lakewood, women's ice hockey


  • Alex Ferreira, 23, Aspen, men's ski halfpipe
  • Lauren Gibbs, 33, Denver, 2-person bobsled
  • Mikaela Shiffrin, 22, Eagle-Vail, ladies' Alpine combined


  • Arielle Gold, 21, Steamboat Springs, ladies' halfpipe
  • Lindsey Vonn, 33, Vail, Ladies' downhill

The Winter Olympics run through Sunday, Feb. 25.
