CASTLE ROCK, Colo – Douglas County Sheriff’s office is warning the public to stay away from a potential scam in grocery parking lots.

A woman posted on a Highlands Ranch Facebook page a picture of a woman next to a family in a grocery store parking lot asking if people knew her.

The author of the post said the woman was approaching people for rides and possibly stealing their money. Many other people wrote on the post accusing the woman of entering their cars and demanding money.

The Douglas County Sherriff’s Office said officers have dealt with the woman in the past and advised people to not allow her into their vehicles and call them they are approached.

Some have even spotted this type of scam in Castle Rock.

“One of our officers reported a situation similar to this in Castle Rock,” said Officer Joe Cybert. “We can’t confirm if it’s the same woman, but we want people to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings. You never know what people are capable of.”
