DENVER — Police are investigating the death of a teenage girl in northeast Denver as a homicide, the second teen killing in the city over the last day, officials said.
Officers were investigating the death in the 5000 block of Troy Street, in Denver's Montbello neighborhood, starting about 11:15 a.m., according to a tweet from police. Police later confirmed that the death was being investigated as a homicide.
Denver police spokesperson Mike Chuck said the call originally came in as a cardiac arrest call but that investigators had since determined the girl's death was suspicious. Chuck said the girl was found outside in front of a home on the street and that she is believed to be 17 years old. It's unclear where she lived, Chuck said, but police believe her death is an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the public.
At around 8:01 p.m. Thursday, police said they had arrested 25-year-old Darsean Kelley on investigation of first-degree murder. Kelly is the brother of the victim, police said, and no other suspects were sought by law enforcement.

On Wednesday evening, a 17-year-old male was shot and killed in southwest Denver. No suspects have been arrested, and police were still working to identify people who dropped the teen off at an urgent care.
