DENVER -- The Denver Medical Examiner identified Thursday the 15-year-old girl killed in a drive-by shooting.

Kashmier Lujan-Taylor was shot as she slept in her unit’s front room early Wednesday morning.

Police were called to the four-unit apartment complex in the 4200 block of West Dakota Avenue around 3 a.m. Paramedics rushed Kashmier to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Police believe the shooting was a targeted attack, but they are not sure if Kashmier was the intended victim. The girl's mother and her three other children were in the home at the time.

Homicide detectives are investigating the incident and have yet to release a motive, suspect information or vehicle description.
