SUPERIOR, Colo. — A Superior man has been arrested after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) led the Boulder County Sheriff's Office to his home for illegal internet activity related to child exploitation material.

Ronald Williams, 49, was arrested Dec. 4 and charged with six counts of sexual exploitation of a child-possession with intent to distribute.

On Nov. 18, members of the Sheriff's Office and Boulder County Computer Forensics Lab executed a search warrant at Williams' home in the 200 block of Mohawk Circle in the Town of Superior.

Forensic examinations of Williams' electronic devices indicated he was using anonymous chat applications and a dark web browser to distribute, receive and exploit illegal images of other users, according to a press release from the Sheriff's Office. He often posed as a single mother on the chats.

There were 8,000 known child exploitation images and videos on Williams' devices, the Sheriff's Office said. Based on interviews and information discovered during the investigation, detectives do not believe the victims were members of the community.

The public and electronic service providers can make reports of suspected illegal activity using the nation's centralized reporting system for the online exploitation of children, the NCMEC CyberTipline.
