More than 11,000 abused and neglected children have been found in Colorado after calls to the state's child abused hotline.

The hotline, launched by Colorado Human Services about a year ago, has fielded more than 200,000 calls.

The hotline is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  Callers can remain anonymous.

The state encourages people to call even if they aren't sure if they're witnessing abuse.  A team of experts can determine how to respond.  That could mean referring a family to resources, or investigating if a child is being abused or neglected.

The number to call is 1-844-CO-4-KIDS. (1-844-264-5437)

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
