DENVER – Special Olympics Colorado recently had its trailer and about $4,000 worth of sports gear stolen and is looking for help finding the trailer and recovering its expected losses.

Ben Theune, the director of marketing for Special Olympics Colorado in Centennial, said the trailer was filled with equipment used by athletes with intellectual disabilities – including all of the flag football gear and all of the bocce gear.

He said the trailer still has Aspire branding on it, as it was donated – and it appears to be black and blue, with a white top.

Theune said there were multiple locks on the trailer’s hitch, the tongue was facing the building in Centennial and that it was parked next to several other Special Olympics Colorado vehicles.

The organization has a link at which people can donate to a fundraiser to help them buy new gear in the even they can’t recover what is stolen. Click here for more details.

The organization asks anyone with information about the stolen trailer, or who sees it, to call their local law enforcement agency. The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office is the home agency.
