Some in Capitol Hill neighborhood argue neo-Nazi group is terrorizing area

DENVER -- The door of the home in the 1400 Block of Ogden is covered with graffiti, some of which opposes anti-fascist groups in Denver.

And there are mixed opinions about the people living there coming from those who work and live in the Capitol Hill neighborhood.

“They keep the neighborhood clean, they sweep the streets...they have a couple of dogs that are very friendly, just nice people,” said Simon Lofts, who has an office space next door.

Many others don’t share Lofts' opinion of Shane “Choppy” McCampbell and the others going and coming from the old building.

One local store owner, who didn’t want to be identified, said the group has been banned from at least two local bars after he said the group members were shouting pro-Nazi sayings.

Police said officers have responded to the address 11 times from Dec. 8, 2015 through Thursday for calls including narcotics, criminal mischief and noise complaints.

Denver police told Denver7 the most recent visit was Thursday to discuss the flier that’s circulating the neighborhood.

Denver7 knocked on the door asking for “Choppy,” only to be told by the woman answering the door that Denver7 should call the number provided for him.

“Choppy” declined on-camera, phone and email interview for Denver7.

Some store owners tell Denver7 they plan to ban the group from their establishments, leaving them with virtually nowhere to go, in hopes they’ll leave on their own.
