THORNTON, Colo. — Students from Georgia Tech are spending part of their spring break working to install solar panels on homes in Thornton this week.

GRID Alternatives' Solar Spring Break brings together students who want to learn about solar design and installation with low-income families who want to go solar and save money on their electric bills.

"My mom has been looking at bringing down her energy bill but go renewable, also," said Rodbey Flood, an intern with GRID Alternatives who will be installing solar at his own mother's home as part of the project.

GRID Alternatives offers solar assistance to families, and job training. Learn more here .
