DENVER — A jarring snowstorm in early October left drivers in the Denver metro and beyond fighting winter-like conditions and traffic.

Many crashes in the high country and foothills led police in Boulder County to close Highway 119 in both directions between Boulder and Nederland.

After cleaning up the crashes and treating the roads, police reopened the roads just before 1 p.m. The closure lasted for nearly four hours.

Crashes and vehicles that slid off the roadway led Colorado Department of Transportation officials to close down I-70 in both directions from Morrison to Genesee (Exits 259 and 254).

After roughly an hour of being closed, officials reopened I-70 in both directions.

Roads are expected to be a problem throughout the evening and into the morning during the freeze. Tap here to learn more.
