The Colorado Avalanche Information Center released a video showing a skier triggering a slide on Friday, March 25.
The man was caught and buried up to his waist, according to the CAIC.
He escaped with minor injuries to his lower leg.
This was a "storm slab" avalanche.
"You can reduce your risk from Storm Slabs by waiting a day or two after a storm before venturing into steep terrain,' the CAIC explained on its website.
This was the second time in a week that the center posted video submitted by skiers who have escaped slides.
The CAIC said the skier did two things that decreased his chances of injury and burial.
"He kept his hands out of his pole straps before the run. He kept his feet downhill once caught."
