LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- Five fires in the same area of Lakewood's Green Mountain Area in the month of November left fire investigators suspicious.

Authorities announced Thursday a collaboration between fire investigators and local police to help figure out who or what may have started the fires.

The five fires were each eventually quashed, but one fire, which firefighters only extinguished on Monday, burned 96 acres and threatened several homes.

Dry conditions and gusting winds create the potential for fires, and West Metro Fire officials say those conditions will persist, meaning the risk will continue.

Anybody who may have seen something suspicious or may have information on the cause of the fires is asked to call authorities at (303) 987-7111.
