LOVELAND, Colo. — If you’re looking to put a special touch on your valentines, look no further than Loveland, Colorado.

The town is once again offering its valentine re-mailing program that will affix each letter with a special cachet stamp from the “Sweetheart City.”

The re-mailing program has been a tradition for 73 years and Loveland has become so well known for it that cards and letters come in from all 50 states and 110 countries.

This year’s cachet includes the verse, “The heart of Loveland is joyfully sent to you. Let love be remembered in all that you do.”

In order to get the special message, valentines or letters should be pre-stamped and pre-addressed and sent together in a larger 1st Class envelope to: Postmaster – Attention Valentines, 446 E. 29th St., Loveland, CO 80538-9998.

A team of volunteers works to unpack and hand stamp each envelope before mailing them off to their intended recipients.

International mail must arrive in Loveland by Feb. 1 in order to get the special cachet and all U.S. mail must be received by Feb. 7. Mail from within Colorado must be received by Feb. 9. Colorado residents also can drop their mail off at the Loveland Chamber of Commerce, 5400 Stone Creek Circle or at a Loveland post office by Feb. 8.

Loveland also releases a special Valentine’s Day card featuring work by local artists. This year’s card was designed by Larry Starck and features a verse by Jeani Bork that reads, “The City of Loveland is known for its art. Grander than that is its tag ‘Sweetheart.’ Hugs and kisses are being sent your way. From our city, with love, on this Valentine’s Day.

Cards cost $5 and are available for purchase online at Loveland.org. They can also be purchased at the Loveland Chamber of Commerce, Loveland Visitors Center and other local retailers like King Soopers, Safeway, Walmart and Walgreens.

New this year, Loveland is hosting the inaugural Loveland Sweetheart Festival on Feb. 8 and 9 with events, art and food for the whole family. For more information, visit lovelandsweetheartfestival.com.
