ARVADA, Colo. -- Coloradans opened their hearts in a big way Tuesday to make Colorado Gives Day the largest in its 10 year history.
About $39.6 million was donated to 2,569 nonprofits over 24 hours. This is Denver7’s first year sponsoring this statewide day of giving.
“We see the generosity of our community every day through Contact7 Gives, so we’re not surprised to see these record-breaking numbers for Colorado Gives Day,” said Dean Littleton, Vice President and General Manager at Denver7. “We’re honored to play a part in the success of Colorado Gives Day in our first year of involvement.”
The statewide movement held each year a week after Giving Tuesday celebrates philanthropy in Colorado through online giving at www.ColoradoGives.org.
Since its inception in 2010, Colorado Gives Day has raised more than $256 million in donations benefiting nonprofits state-wide. This year alone, Coloradans gave 165,500 donations ranging from $10 to $1.2million.
Colorado Gives Day is presented by Community First Foundation and FirstBank.
“Today the entire state of Colorado displayed a giving spirit that truly makes this a special place,” said Brian Larson, FirstBank Regional President in a release. “With this being the 10th anniversary of Colorado Gives Day, we wanted to make a statement in total donations, and we accomplished just that with over $39.6 million raised. We share immense pride with all Coloradans for achieving these goals by selflessly giving back to our community. Today was a great day for Colorado, and we’re eager to build a bright future together.”
Colorado Gives Day is one of the most successful days of giving in the U.S., according to Community First Foundation.

They have shown a tremendous amount of love for the nonprofits that work tirelessly day in and day out to make our state the great place that it is,” said Kelly Dunkin, president and CEO of Community First Foundation. “I also want to thank the nonprofits that participate in Colorado Gives Day.
