PUEBLO, Colo. -- A man is dead after he was shot by police following a pursuit in Pueblo late Tuesday, officers said.
Police responded to a home in the 900 block of East 9th Street shortly before 11 p.m. after a woman called to report an armed man violating a restraining order and refusing to leave her home.
By the time police arrived, the suspect had taken off on a bike, police said. Officers searched the area and eventually found the man near 9th and Iola.
Police said the suspect refused to comply with their commands and reached for his waistband, so they fired a Taser at him. Despite being shot with the stun gun, the suspect then fled on foot.
When officers caught up with the suspect in a backyard in the 900 block of East 8th Street, he pulled out a handgun and two officers fired their own guns, police said.
The suspect, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Nobody else was injured.
The two officers who fired their guns will be placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings. The officers have not been identified.
The Tenth Judicial District Critical Incident Team is investigating the shooting.
