CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — More delays were expected along the Interstate 25 Gap between Castle Rock and Monument on Saturday as potholes were expected to cause periodic lane closures.

Traffic was already heavy in the area ahead of Saturday night's hockey game at the Air Force Academy's Falcon Stadium between the Avalanche and the Los Angeles Kings. The game was part of the National Hockey League's outdoor Stadium Series.

The game is scheduled for 6 p.m., but the Colorado Department of Transportation was already warning fans to leave the Denver area around 2 p.m. The recent weather, with a mix of snow and freezing temperatures, was causing unexpected potholes along the 18-mile stretch of highway known as the Gap, which has been under construction.
