DENVER — The Colorado Department of Transportation has closed Interstate 70 in both directions between Colorado Boulevard and Interstate 270. It will remain closed through 5 a.m. Monday.

Crews will be working on the new flyover that will connect southbound I-270 to eastbound I-70. CDOT said drivers can use I-270 as a detour.

The I-270 flyover is just one piece of the $1.2 billion Central 70 Project that will transform a 10-mile stretch of I-70 between Chambers Road and Brighton Boulevard. Part of the highway will be lowered and a four-acre park will be placed on top. The project is expected to be finished in 2022.
