LAKEWOOD, Colo. – A 3-year-old boy who was badly injured in a chain-reaction crash in Lakewood Monday morning has died.

Police said Jason Huffman died Wednesday at Children’s Hospital Colorado.

Huffman’s mother, Anna Huffman, 43, was also killed in the crash that involved six vehicles.

Investigators said five of the involved vehicles were stopped at a light at the intersection of Alameda Avenue and Oak Street when a pickup slammed into the back of Huffman’s minivan, setting off a chain reaction.

The driver of the pickup, a 45-year-old man whose name has not been released, was transported to a local hospital for observation and treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said. No other injuries were reported.

Investigators said there was no indication that alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash but any possible charges related to the collision will have to wait until test results come back.
