A Colorado police officer, who was under investigation for posting on Facebook that he wanted to “beat the hell” out of Democrats and that he was ready to leave his job so he can “hurt these people,” has resigned from his position.

Officer Jason Taft, formerly of the Platteville, resigned on Wednesday, according to a news release.

An internal investigation of Taft, who was with the department since July of 2018, ended on Nov. 10 and the department was going to fire him, but, Taft couldn’t be reached, said Chief Carl Dwyer, in the release.

Taft’s resignation completes the town’s “internal disciplinary procedures,” the release said.
