LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. – The pilot of a small single-engine plane that crashed in a field northwest of Fort Collins Friday morning walked away unscathed.

The pilot was the only occupant of the aircraft when it crashed in the field on private property near US 287 and North Overland Trail in La Porte in Larimer County.

The initial 911 call came in around 11 a.m. People were reporting seeing the plane in distress.

Poudre Fire crews tweeted a photo showing the plane upside down. The aircraft appeared to have sustained some damage.

Details as to what caused the plane to crash are not known. An investigation into the cause will follow.
