Pedestrian struck, killed on Arapahoe Road in Aurora

AURORA, Colo. — A man walking on the roadway on Arapahoe Road in Aurora was struck and killed by a passing car Saturday night, according to a release from the Aurora Police Department.

It occurred around 10 p.m. in the 14700 block of East Arapahoe Road.

Police said an adult male was walking in the lanes of traffic when an eastbound Chevy sedan struck him. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said.

The section of Arapahoe Road where the crash occurred was not illuminated by street lights, according to police.

The name of the pedestrian will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Officer once he has been positively identified and his next of kin have been notified.

The investigation into the cause of this crash is in its early stages and is on-going, police said.
