AURORA, Colo. – A pedestrian is dead following a crash involving an RTD train in north Aurora Wednesday evening.

Aurora Police tweeted at 7:19 p.m. that the crash happened in the area of E. 31st Ave. and N. Peoria Street. The collision was reported to authorities just before 7 p.m., according to Aurora Police Lt. Jad Lanigan.

He said the victim was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries. The victim's identity will not be released until family is notified, police said.

All R Line train service was stopped at the Fitzsimons Station as investigators worked the scene, police said in the tweet. That train line was running again by 9:48 p.m., Aurora police tweeted Wednesday.

The RTD train operator was also cooperating with the investigation, according to police. Further investigation will be conducted by the Aurora Police Traffic Section.

Lanigan said investigators will review surveillance video at the intersection to learn how man was struck by the train.
