Owner of dead horse says he tried to save all of his horses during massive barn fire

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — West Metro firefighters put out yet another dumpster fire not too far from the string of fires that happened in Lakewood Saturday morning.

The dumpster fire happened behind the BMW dealership in Lakewood. Fortunately, there were no injuries but the fire was dangerously burning close to a power line.

West Metro fire investigators are calling these fires suspicious and connected.

Saturday’s large barn fires claimed the lives of several horses. Luis Briones, who is one of the owners of the horses, says he tried save all his five horses but lost one in the process.

“He was my favorite horse. It’s an everyday thing, you wake up and feed them, you take care of them, you ride them. It's a relationship that no one can break,” Briones said.

Investigators have yet to share suspect information.
