DENVER -- Downtown Denver's record-setting growth is attracting significant development in Colorado. According to statistics from The Downtown Denver Partnership, in total developers have completed 57 projects over the last five years, with an additional 26 under construction currently.
One of those projects, The World Trade Center Denver, is breaking ground this summer and set to open in 2020. Developers and the trade association are aiming for this development to be a bridge between the Mile High City and international businesses.
“Businesses are coming from all over the nation but they are also coming from all over the world,” said Karen Gerwitz, President & CEO for The World Trade Center Denver.
Construction for the project will go up near the corner of 38th and Blake Streets, close to the A Line light rail station. The center is aiming to provide a soft landing for international businesses in the booming Denver marketplace.
“We want to create an environment where they can thrive and grow here and hire more local jobs and boost our economy by bringing in new money,” said Gerwitz.
Once completed the development will span 100,000 square feet. The site will have amenities such as a business conference center, office space and a hospitality piece too.
“This is sort of the hub and spoke, the touchstone for global businesses and the global marketplace that is evolving here in Colorado,” said Sean Campbell, Founder & CEO of Formativ Development.
Companies moving to Denver want to attract and retain talent and hone in on what makes the city a successful place to grow a business.
“Playing to our strengths, whether its energy or renewables or cyber security or healthcare. All of these are great verticals and industries in our state,” said Campbell.
