BRIGHTON, Colo. — Multiple vehicles were involved in a crash, including a semi that went into a ravine, on Highway E-470 near E. 120th Avenue Thursday morning.
Trooper Josh Lewis with Colorado State Patrol said the call came in at 7:28 a.m. for the crash, which occurred at milemarker 35 in the southbound lanes. Multiple vehicles are involved, he said, including the semi. The semi was upside down in the ravine. The highway was closed in both directions at 8 a.m., he said. All northbound lanes of E470 and the northbound ramp onto 120th are open, but the southbound lanes remain closed as of 10:15 a.m.
The ramp from westbound Pena Boulevard to northbound E-470 near Denver International Airport has reopened.
Natalie Ridderbos with Brighton Fire Rescue said authorities were working on a “major, major extrication” at the crash site. Around 8:30 a.m., the driver of the truck was brought up the embankment. They were taken into an ambulance before being brought to the Air Life around 9 a.m. Their condition is unclear.
Ridderbos said the crash will take several hours to clean up.
