DENVER - Authorities in Denver said seven people have been taken to area hospitals after they were injured in a street racing crash that shut down Federal Boulevard in both directions.
The crash between a Nissan Altima and a Volvo S40 occurred at around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Federal Boulevard and West 54th Avenue, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
"We had two vehicles, a motorcycle and Volvo, racing northbound on Federal right here at 54th Avenue. The Volvo lost control as it was going northbound, spun around in the southbound lanes and hit a Nissan head-on," said Corporal Heath Griscavage with the Colorado State Patrol.
Four people from the Nissan and two people from the Volvo were transported to the hospital.
Authorities were looking for the motorcyclist who fled the scene.
"No one saw the motorcycle because they were going so fast. They (witnesses) didn't even get a make, model or color," said Griscavage.
