BASALT, Colo. — Heavy rain Sunday has caused two mudslides and flooding in the Lake Christine burn scar area near Basalt, prompting an evacuation order.

Around 6:30 p.m., authorities advised residents on Pinion Road and Cedar Drive above Pinion Road in Basalt to climb or drive to higher ground after flooding caused a debris flow.

About 10 minutes later, two mudslides were reported about a mile up Frying Pan Road east of Basalt.

An evacuation center was set up at the Eagle County building near Crown Mountain Park.

A flash flood warning was issued for southwestern Eagle County and north-central Pitkin County until 9:30 p.m.
