DENVER – Parts of Colorado will see stormy weather with the potential for heavy rain Thursday afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to reach into the low 90s in the Denver area before storms start moving through in the late afternoon, dropping temperatures back down into the 80s.
The storms sparked a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Douglas and Jefferson Counties through 3:45 p.m., however storms are a threat to the Denver metro area through 7 p.m.
Denver7 meteorologists say the slow-moving storms could produce lightning, wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and hail in addition to heavy rain in the Denver metro area and most of northeastern Colorado. A flash flood watch is in effect for the Western Slope starting at noon, as some storm cells have the potential of dropping more than an inch of rain in less than an hour.
Localized flooding will continue to be a concern over the next couple days as stormy conditions persist.
