SALIDA, Colo. — If you love to hit the slopes on Monarch Mountain, get your skis ready. The mountain opens Nov. 1.

Monarch Mountain announced it will open Friday through Sunday starting on the first of November, as conditions allow. This is its earliest opening since 1969.

The Caterpillar, Tumbelina and Pioneer lifts will operate from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Rental Shop, Sidewinder Saloon, Java Stop and Elation Sports will be open.

If you need to put the kids in ski or snowboard school, you’ll have that options as well. The school will offer beginner group lessons, as well as limited private ones.

Monarch, which has a base elevation of 10,790 feet, is one of the last remaining ski areas in the state that does not have any snow-making operations. It typically sees an abundance of all-natural snow throughout the ski season.

Adult lift tickets are priced at $57.
