Memorial service for Donald Stratton to be held in Colorado Springs

USS Arizona survivor, Donald G. Stratton passed away last Saturday at the age of 97.

The World War II veteran was a 13-year resident of Colorado Springs and the I-25 and Fillmore bridge was named in his honor.

With Stratton's family's permission, the Pikes Peak Heroes Legacy Committee has announced that a memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 29 in Colorado Springs.

The service will be open to the public.

Stratton's family is encouraging attendees to wear Hawaiian shirts, USS Arizona themed apparel, service uniforms or red, white, and blue.

The service will be held at the Rocky Mountain Calvary Chapel, located at 4285 N. Academy Blvd. The grave site burial will be Monday, March 2 in Red Cloud, Nebraska.
