DENVER – Good morning! Here’s what you need to know today, Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017. 

1. U.S. Supreme Court hears Masterpiece Cake Shop case
In what could be one of the premiere cases heard by the U.S. Supreme Court this session, Lakewood’s Masterpiece Cake Shop will take center stage in Washington, D.C. Oral arguments begin Tuesday in the “Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission” hearing.

2. Colorado Gives Day
Tuesday is Colorado Gives Day and local non-profits will collectively try to raise millions in a single day. Learn more on their website: https://www.coloradogives.org/cogivesday

3. Quick-growing fire burning in S. California
A wildfire in Ventura County exploded to 26,000 acres in size Monday night, forcing thousands of people out of their homes. The fire is zero percent contained this morning.

4. Public Invited to I-25 South Open House
CDOT is hosting two open houses in December focused on the I-25 south corridor, specifically the 18-mile stretch between Castle Rock and Monument known as "The Gap." The meeting begins at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.

5. Tuesday stays cool
Tuesday will stay cool, with more gusty winds over the northeast quarter of the state. Highs will be in the 40s for lower elevations and 30s in the mountains. Skies will be mostly sunny over Colorado and no precipitation is expected aside from a few mountain flurries.
