LONGMONT, Colo. — Police are looking for a man who randomly attacked another at the St.Vrain bike path in Longmont.

Jasper Harden says he was enjoying nature Saturday afternoon when, out of nowhere, a man came at him swinging a tree branch.

"He was hitting me around my shoulder and he was trying to hit me in the head. He was trying to kill me," Harden said.

Harden, who doesn't’ know the attacker, said he was looking down at his phone when the man attacked him. The victim managed to get away but left his bike behind.

“He jumped on my bicycle screaming that I had raped his old lady and raped his country,” Harden said.

Longmont police were called to the scene and Harden said they told him they think the man is a transient and that they've encountered him in the past.

Police tell Denver7 they are still working on positively identifying the man and are following up on several leads.

Anyone with information should contact Longmont police.
