Man dies in motorcycle crash at I-225 and I-70

AURORA, Colo. - A man died after losing control of his motorcycle on a ramp from Interstate 225 to Interstate 70 Sunday evening.

The man was heading northbound on I-225 at about 6:45 p.m. when he attempted to exit to eastbound I-70, according to Lieutenant Jeff Turner with the Aurora Police Department.

The exit ramp curves to the right and the motorcycle went off the left side, Turner said. The rider was thrown off the bike.

The man was rushed to a local hospital but died from his injuries. His name has not been released.

The rider was not wearing a helmet and investigators said they suspect he was speeding. They do not believe he was driving under the influence.

Witnesses told police a small red vehicle going the same direction at the time of the crash and both the motorcycle and the red car were speeding.

"At this time we do not know if the red car was involved in the crash," Turner stated.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call Detective Chinn at 303-739-6342.
