Man being held for investigation of 1st-degree murder in Denver domestic violence-related death case

DENVER — A man is being held for investigation of first-degree murder as Denver police investigate a domestic violence-related homicide.

Just before 11 p.m. Thursday, the Denver Police Department said it was investigating a death near E. Harvard Avenue and S. University Boulevard. Early the following morning, police said the case was being investigated as a domestic violence-related incident. The person who died was a woman, who was identified on Jan. 28 by the Office of the Medical Examiner as 38-year-old Karen Morales. The cause and manner of death were pending.

Thomas Garcia, 38, is being held for investigation of first-degree murder, police said.
