EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. — A 55-year-old man was charged after allegedly threatening a road construction crew with a gun over the weekend.

Shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday, deputies with El Paso Sheriff’s Office responded to the 4200 block of Outpost Road in Cascade after receiving a call of a menacing man, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.

After talking with a road construction crew who was working in the area, deputies learned an armed man had approached the group and threatened them with a rifle. He had pointed it at them and threatened to shoot before pointing it to the ground and firing three times.

The man then walked back onto his property and fired several more times.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for his residence and found a rifle in a locked safe and magazine.

The man, who was identified as 55-year-old Edward Otis, Jr., was brought to the El Paso Sheriff’s Office Criminal Justice Center Jail and booked on charges of felony menacing, prohibited use of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
