Loveland soldier killed in Afghanistan

DENVER —The Department of Defense announced Tuesday the death of a 22-year-old soldier from Loveland who was killed combat in Afghanistan.

Spc. Gabriel D. Conde was killed Monday as a result of enemy small arms fire in Tagab District, Afghanistan, according to the Pentagon.

The incident is under investigation.

Conde was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 509th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, U.S. Army Alaska, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.

He deployed to Afghanistan in September.
