NEW YORK — The highly watched giraffe, which has been pregnant for 15 months at Animal Adventure Park, officially began giving birth Saturday morning, giving birth just before 8 a.m.
Legs popped out of April early in the morning, triggering active labor, which took several hours to complete. Just before 8 a.m., the full calf fell five feet to the ground.
April continued to check out her newborn, which attempted to take its first steps just minutes after birth.
